Have you seen the state of friendships in this world? Have you had your own troubles connecting on a deeper level with women in your life? Have you been hurt by a friend or lost a friendship from a misunderstanding and don't know what to do about it? This book is going to help you be the friend you have always wanted!
Let's start with an introduction of the writer. Natalie Snapp is a God follower and an outgoing woman who wanted to learn more about resolving conflict within friendships and how to grow in those relationships with other women. She searched for some type of literature on the subject and came up empty handed. God planted a seed in her a few years ago and here is the fruit of that seed; a marvelous book on how to build wonderful friendships!
I have had the same best friend for 15 years! Oh how I could have used the knowledge and wisdom in this book 5 years ago! It's good to be able to fix damage done, but wouldn't it have been better to prevent it in the first place?! Let me explain what happened.
Somehow my friend and I got pregnant within weeks of each other. Our kids have grown up together. In the process of our children's development we began to compare our them and what they were able to do. This caused hurt feelings and unnecessary heartache. What were we doing? Why did it matter so much? It didn't. That's just it. Satan likes to mess up our friendships by using comparison and envy. These are just two of the five lies she explains the enemy uses to break down our relationships.
Comparison and envy can eat away the soul quicker than battery acid on skin. It destroys the flesh and burrows within, and there you are, standing with holes in your skin and wounds that run deep. ~ Quote from ch. 2 in Heart Sisters
Another concept of Natalie's is the different kinds of friends and their importance! We are all created in God's image and He made us all uniquely different. We have different qualities and different personalities. We have different gifts and bring these differences with us into our friendships. Some of us are encouragers, some of us are happy-go-lucky, some of us are the rocks like Peter, and some of us are the ones who serve in some way when another needs a break. In the book, Natalie names these different friend types and how to grow these relationships. Seek and ye shall find. This is also true in friendships. We can't grow and meet new friends if we stay in our little boxes. There isn't enough room in there for them.
If there were ever a time where we needed healthy, thriving relationships with other women, it is now! Our daughters and sons are learning from us! They see the gossiping and the back stabbing. This world is so full of broken relationships and unhealthy ones too. Let's show our kids what good wholesome friendships can be like and how blessed we are to have friends that will stand by us, hold us up when we lose our feet, and let go of us when we need to stand on our own. I want my kids to thrive in their friendships! Don't you? This book was so helpful to me and I know it can be to you as well! I want you to thrive in your friendships, both present and future!
Be the friend you want to have!
Cheers!
